RiO version 5.x is a web-based NHS solution providing full smartcard authentication against the NHS spine to allow the attachment of documents to patient records.

Current users of RiO have a limited ability to add relevant documents quickly and easily by scanning. The existing system only allows one document to be added at a time making the process labour intensive and time consuming and therefore costly.

Leveraging on the successful deployment of CapsureDM - Electronic Document Management solution at NHS Greenwich and Capgen’s expertise in automating and reengineering Business Processes - Capgen were able to develop a solution based on their mass capture solution, CapsureDC 2012 and adapt it to give users the required ability to scan multiple documents simultaneously, for the first time.

The solution was implemented using only desktop scanners and as a result, many more documents are now able to be input into the RiO system in a greatly reduced time frame, thereby further improving business process efficiencies. This development forms the basis of a unique solution which is available wherever RiO is used nationally.
